i should start carry cash.
so i wrote a check for CLEARLY 87 cents. it was obvious. and what did the bank do? they charged me $8.74. preposterous. so, now i must call the bank and clear all of this up.
moral of the story:
1) write clearer.
2) stop writing $.87 checks.
p.s. i have no idea what numbers on a check are important. so, hopefully i have crossed out the vital ones. identity theft, identity schmeft.

I think moral #2 is the best solution to your problem.
why are you supposed to write out the amount of money if they arent going to even look at it? isnt that what is there for, to clear up any confusion that the number box might have caused? and really, it is a pain to write out numbers. i hate it.
